This slot machine is a gambling machine invented in California by a german immigrant in the late 1800s. For quite a while slot machines were coin operated, and used mechanical reels that were spun by the player who pulled a lever on the left side of the machine. This feature earned the slot machine the nickname "one armed bandit". When the player pulls the lever (or on modern machines presses the spin button), the reels of the machine spin and eventually stop on a variety of symbols. If these symbols match up with a winning combination on the pay table, the player receives a payout.
